U692                  Agnes of Nothing (50) aka: Agnes De Rien    Agnes (Daniele Delorme) has been living a bohemian lifestyle and now needs money.  Her mother-in-law lives in a castle with others, and is now quite mad after the death of her husband.  She mistakes Agnes for a well-known poisoner, maybe the one who ended her husband's life.  It's like a lost gothic Edgar Allen Poe influenced tale.  Dark despair permeates throughout.  Downbeat, grim and yet, I want to be there.  In French with English subtitles  BA

U694 Back Streets of Paris (46) aka: Macadam   Madam Rose (Francoise Rosay) has already murdered her husband, whose honesty disrupted her way of business.  She is free however, under a suspended sentence, still indulging in high crime, this time, smuggling.  She takes advantage of a criminal cohort, robbing him completely, then the poor fellow is arrested.  Now he has escaped, the only thing on his mind...  revenge!  In French with English subtitles  BA

U638 Bobby Darin Spectacular (various): All live performances from 1957-1973  Almost THREE HOURS!   + Clips and Snips of Bobby Darin including a 'Jack Benny Show' which features Darin.  This is Your Life, filmed in 1960 or thereabouts.  So who was Bobby Darin?  He sings 'Splish Splash', 'Mack the Knife', 'Beyond the Sea' and many more.  He was also married to Sandra (Gidget) Dee from 1960 to 1967.  Not bad.  A weak heart plagued him however and Darin died during extensive heart surgery at the age of 37 in December 1973.   Two disc set—counts as two selections. 

U703 Devil Blows, The (47) aka: Woman of Evil  aka: Le diable souffle   A small island in the middle of the river has French on one side, Spanish on the other.  The wind itself becomes a character.  The house seems to contain something dark and threatening.  The muddy waters of the torrent that has cut off the island from the world means a makeshift operation creating a nightmarish scene of chance.  The wind blows through the Pyrenees.  Gloomy entertainment perfect for a thunderstorm night.   In French English subtitles

U689 Doll Merchant, The (55) aka: Nukkekauppias ja kaunis Lilith   Finland - In a futuristic totalitarian Finland society, a simple doll maker is marked by the bureaucrats as an anarchist that needs to be dealt with leading to many difficulties in his personal life.  Dutch angles, bold stylizations.  The major characters have their own 'doll' versions.  Also a love story mixed in with multiple dream sequence/fantasies.  Major influence from Nazi Germany, from the shiny black leather coats to ambiguously swastika-like logo of the General Leader's ruling party.  A modern fairy tale.  Finnish with English subtitles  BA

6519-4811 East of Borneo (31) aka: Ourang  Linda (Rose Hobart) has traveled 6000 miles to Borneo to search for her missing husband.  Guided by natives, through the perilous jungles, loaded with animal dangers, Linda locates her husband Allen (Charles Bickford), working as a physician in a palace located next to a volcano.  Allen is a drunk, forced into submission by the local prince Hashin, who entertains himself by watching natives being eaten by crocodiles.  The prince of the palace now orders Linda to stay as well.  Also starring Lupita Tovar and Noble Johnson.  Tovar lived to be 106, dying in 2016.  BA

U680 Lone Wolf Meets a Lady, The (40) Michael Lanyard (Warren William), known as 'The Lone Wolf', is enlisted to help a hardworking secretary who has been accused of murder.  The car in the beginning of the film is a 1937 Packard Super 8 convertible coupe.  Also starring Jean Muir.  BA

U652 On Our Merry Way (48) aka: A Miracle Can Happen   Longer version - Paulette Goddard and Burgess Meredith were married at the time of this production, a musical comedy revolving around three stories, told in flashback, for a newspaper reporter's human interest stories scoop.  Chock full of Hollywood actors including Henry Fonda, James Stewart and many more, including Carl (Alfalfa) Switzer.  One of the first films to show a married couple in the same bed.  BA

U699 Road to Happiness (41) aka: Boy of Mine  John Boles is Jeff Carter, a man who heads off to France to get musical training.  When he returns home he finds his wife Millie (Mona Barrie) has not only divorced him, but she has remarried as well.  Millie dumped their kid off in military school.  Jeff nabs the kid and now destitute, winds up in a boarding house, while his ex lives it up with a rich guy.  But the tide is about to turn!  Weepy hankies.  BA

U675 South of Panama (41) Newspaper reporter Mike Lawrence (Roger Pryor) is chased by agents in Panama who think he has a secret formula in his possession.  It's about a kind of paint, that can make aircraft invisible.  Virginia Vale in a dual role.  What a dame!  BA

U792 Unfaithfuls, The (53) aka: Le infedeli   An industrialist tries to catch his wife (Irene Papas) cheating so he can justify dumping her for a hot model (a 15 year Marina Vlady).  More shenanigans occur amongst the rest of the cast, centered on selfishness, greed and lust.  Also starring Gina Lollabrigida, May Britt and more.  In Italian with English subtitles  BA

U688 Wolf Estate (43) aka: La ferme aux loups   Excellent French mystery film that manages to build up some darkness and dread as we follow two news-hounds who are covering a found corpse, later getting their car stuck in the mud, which leads them to an old dark house.....  Twins, revenge, brooding atmosphere...  wonderful.  In French with English subtitles  BA

U725 Angels (76) A black God has sent two angels (recently deceased gangsters) to help crazy maniac Tex (Vincent Schiavelli) murder three people, who God has decided have to go by-bye.  People die to become angels.  Death is music to their ears.  An odd ball goofy flick, especially with the bumbling angels on roller skates.  Marquita Callwood, as Lulu, brings plenty of appealing sass to her role as a hip reporter.  The funky score hits the get down groovy spot.  BA

Q384/9200 Battle Beyond the Sun (59) aka: The Heavens Call  Ed Perry stars in this American English reworking of 'Nebo Zovyot' involving two countries in their race to land on Mars.  A space race.  Some scenes used in 'Queen of Blood'.  Two outer space monsters, resembling genitalia (one male, one female) are spliced into the film (which was too dull, and needed monsters apparently), who battle upon the hull of the heroic spaceship.  Inserted into the film by future 'The Godfather' director Francis Ford Coppola.  The absurd monsters add charm to the picture.  BA

U778 Battle in Outer Space (59) aka: Uchû daisensô   Japanese 'The War of the Worlds'.  The nations of Earth unite to fight off an alien invasion.  This is what the world needs right now to unite.  These midget-like creatures, destroy using flying saucers and lasers.  Complex miniature sets, matte paintings, and large scale space ship dogfight sequences that anticipate 'Star Wars'.   Brisk pace, no long-winded speeches.  A worthy sequel to 'The Mysterians'.  Widescreen English language dubbed.  BA

Q928 Black Devils of Kali  (54) aka: Mystery of the Black Jungle  aka: La vendetta dei Tughs   Tramal Naik (Lex Barker) is a great adventurer, traveling through the banyan bushes, in search of a kidnapped white woman.  And don't forget the tiger Flooti the fabulous, friend to all jungle fighters in the name of goodness.  Worse of all, the 'Tughs', who are holding our white woman captive to make her their high priestess for Black Kali, the multiple-armed goddess of primitive sadistic savagery.  BA

C247 Bye Bye Jupiter (84) aka: Sayonara Jupitâ  On Mars, while extracting water from the Martian polar ice caps, ancient carvings are discovered.  They are working to colonize Jupiter because the earth is overpopulated.  Beautiful cheesy special effects and a complex plot that includes nudity with sex in space, hippies (a Japanese Jerry Garcia?) with a dolphin mascot, terrorists, a precocious genius kid in a wheelchair, music that reminds of a Japanese Olivia Newton John, nature scenes of beach frolicking, a shark sequence, surprising violence......  Kitchen sink disaster that spells Fun for the science fiction fan.  Widescreen and in English (maybe subtitles in some parts)

T591 Captain Scarlett (53) Captain Scarlett (Richard Greene) has returned from the Napoleonic wars and in southern France, saves a princess (Leonora Amar) from an arranged marriage to an evil count.  Filmed in Mexico as a three part television pilot.  Captain Scarlett is a Robin Hood type of character.  The thrill of cold steel!  The romance of warm lips!  The excitement of blazing adventure!  Swash and Buckle!  BA

T598 Cyrano De Bergerac (50) Jose Ferrer is the titular character, a gallant swordsman with an enormous nose who helps a young guardsman woo his beloved, while the war of Spain rages on, and the complicated intentions of the nobility threaten existing peace.  With Mala Powers as Roxanne.  Also starring Elena Verdugo as 'Orange Girl' and William Prince.   BA

6428 Daughter of Cleopatra (61) aka: Il sepolcro dei re   Cleopatra is dead, and her daughter Shila (Debra Paget) finds herself married to a new pharaoh after the conquering of Assyria.  Shila is horrified to learn she is to be entombed alive with her dead pharaoh husband, who has been poisoned by a traitor to the empire.  Shila however has a lover with a plan to help her escape the premature burial of Shila.  Paget is mesmerizing.  Look closely and you will spot the gorgeous Rosalba Neri in a small role.  Also starring future spaghetti western star Ettore Manni, who shot himself in the balls in Italy in 1979 at age 52, and then died.  Man, what a way to go.  BA

U780 Desert Warrior (57) aka: Los amantes del desierto  aka: Gli amanti del deserto   Ricardo Montalban is Prince Said, a man who escapes his father's kingdom just in time, overthrown by the traitor Ibrahim, killing Said's father in the carnage.  Now a desert bandit, he gathers men, plots his revenge, and meets a woman, Amina (Carmen Sevilla), the daughter of usurper Ibrahim.  Also starring Franca Bettoia.  Carmen Sevilla would go on to play Mary Magdalene in the epic 'King of Kings' in 1961.  Color and Widescreen   Upgrade  BA

T600 Esther and the King (60) Joan Collins stars as the virgin Esther in this biblical epic ripe with palace intrigue.  MIxed feelings come about because of the viewers lust for Joan.  This is a bible story, straighten up!  Or...er...  settle down.  The Christian message is conveyed alongside nubile slave girls and scantily dressed dancers (Daniela Rocca, wow!).  The manly muscle men of course amidst the women.  Better than some, with excellent cinematography from Mario Bava.  Richard Egan is the King of Persia.  Two years later he would play King Leonidas, battling the Persians with his Greek army in the first version of 'The 300 Spartans'.   Future husband of Laura Gemser, Gabriele Tinti, is Samual.  BA

9432 Falcon of the Desert, The (65) aka: La magnifica sfida   Kirk Morris is the muscular Kadir, who has returned to the Arabian desert and finds the tyrant Atatur is now the ruler of the land.  There, Kadir is enlisted to be in a high position in Atatur's army, which is plotting to wage a war against the tribes of King Hussein.  But then, through much action and circumstance, Kadir learns that he, Kadir, is the true legitimate heir to the kingdom.  Time to turn Atatur into scalloped (or tots).  A tale of good versus evil.  Also with Dina Loy and Aldo Sambrell.  BA

2366 Invincible Gladiators, The (64) aka: The Invincible Brothers Maciste  aka: Gli invincibili fratelli Maciste    Prince Akim (Anthony Steffan) is in the custody of the evil queen Thaliade (Claudie Lange).  Two strong brothers, Maciste the elder, and Maciste the younger, run to his aid.  Paved roads, eye-makeup, cheap production values, Las Vegas show music and loin-cloth clad sweaty muscular heroes.  An uprising, magic potions of forgetfulness, mind control, leopard men, styrofoam rock throwing and a collapsing spiked ceiling are just some of the peplum thrills delivered here.  One of the brothers is played by Iranian muscle man Iloosh Khoshabe, who managed to be in a number of these films.  BA

B22 Iron Duke, The (34) The first Duke of Wellington, Arthur Wellesley (George Arliss).  This is the story of how he faced down Napoleon's army at Waterloo with a victory assisted by the Prussian army.  He then served as Prime Minister.  An early English costumer, with some impressive scenes.  Also starring Gladys Cooper.  BA

Q777 Legend of Bigfoot (75) Startling new footage of the elusive creature, the missing link, known as Bigfoot....  So the filmmakers claim.  a documentary that takes a deep dive into the beast that weighs 500 pounds, leaves behind 18" footprints, and has demonic red glowing eyes.  It has mystical powers responsible for cattle mutilations and snapping necks of large bears.  Join Ivan Marx as he goes beyond the call of duty to convince us he is some legendary explorer.  He may put you to sleep with his tales of bravado, but we know better.  By films end, you will see his so-called 'unchallengeable proof'.  The first notable 'Bigfoot' explorer, Ivan Marx, died in 1999 at age 78.  He never did find Bigfoot, but he made a few bucks making like he did.  As I write this at the end of 2024, there is national news about two Bigfoot hunters who were found dead (of cold weather exposure) in the forests of Washington state.  They never found Bigfoot, only death by misadventure.  BA

An aquatic dinosaur (that resembles in most cases a plesiosaurus, which lived in the early Jurassic) that has survived millions of years deep below in the depths of Loch Ness, Scotland? The filmmakers seem to think so.  They set out to convince us that this is true.  Starts off okay, then starts to talk about lizards in Asia.  Then an L.A.  professor schools us on fossilized fish.  There are stories about the monster, and even 'authentic' footage of the creature.....  They got us to look.  Barkers. 

Q620 Legend of Robin Hood (71) Animated from Australia with a gallant rousing score.  The dialogue is witty, the merry men are fun, with nicely defined personalities.  Another ANIMATED version of a literary classic. 

7387 Legend of Zu (01) aka: Zu Warriors  aka: Shu shan zheng zhuan   Zu's mountain range is located between heaven and earth and houses the immortals of Omei.  Enter one dissenter, the renegade immortal Amnesia, who seeks to not only control all of Zu, but to rule all the world as well.  Naturally, the best fighters of Zu are dispatched to destroy Amnesia, to save Zu, and the planet earth.  They will need the power of the mystical swords.....  The Greatest Flying Kung-Fu movie ever?  Fantastic action Fantasy - Widescreen and English subtitles. 

Y978 Magnos the Robot (76/83) aka: Ga-Keen   The ultimate power robot Magnos is employed to defeat an invasion of aliens from outer space.  Enlisted to take command of Magnos is a karate champion, while the daughter of the creator of the robots is under control of Magnon.  Through scientific wizardry they are transformed from man/woman to machine.  Meanwhile, the final assault is launched by the aliens....  ANIMATED  BA

T124 Milton the Monster + Fearless Fly (65-67) During the monster era this was one of the coolest shows a kid could see.  Episodes of monsters in comedy situations, made for fans of 'The Munsters' and old horror movies, which were all the rage on the late night television of the 1960's, horror hosts and all.  Milton the Monster was sort of a Frankenstein, while Fearless Fly is like a super-hero fly character.  One and a half hours of fun in very nice quality with various full episodes.

U782 Mysterians, The (57) aka: Chikyû Bôeigun  aka: Prisonnières des Martiens   Classic invasion film from Japan with giant killer robots that destroy entire cities.  A group of aliens from the planet Mysteriod arrive and demand a tract of land on earth.  Illegal aliens.  They want what we have.  And they don't want to pay for it.  There's a doomed hero who literally goes on a kamikaze mission through the alien base.  The cold war is put on hold.  The earth must defeat 'The Mysterians'.  Excellent, one of the best.  Another Japanese 'War of the Worlds'/'Earth vs. the Flying Saucers'.  Widescreen in Japanese with English subtitles  BA

U777 Mysterians, The (57) This is the full screen English language dubbed version of 'The Mysterians' in quality not as sharp as the Widescreen English subtitled version.   BA

T603 Pilgrimage Play, The (49) This is a filmed stage play of the life of Jesus.  An exercise in quotation.  The words, the life, the death, the legacy.  Jesus has been done to death since.  Mel Gibson's film started another revival.  The public domain of the bible enables filmmakers to crucify Jesus over and over, for each generation, with more exploitative elements, and shocks, high drama.....  In 1949, things were not as in your face.  A calm and collected vision.

Q460 Royal African Rifles (53) aka: Storm Over Africa  aka: Complot dans la jungle  Machine guns have been stolen from a British warship by the trader Cunningham (Michael Pate) who plans to sell them to the Germans.  Denham (Louis Hayward) is sent to retrieve the weapons, and to kill Cunningham.  Denham poses as an animal hunter and tracks them down, but when he gets one look at Jennifer (Veronica Hurst) Cunningham's daughter, he falls in love.  No worries, Denham has the guns, and is now pursued by Cunningham through the jungles.   BA

L430 Secret of the Telegian (60) aka: The Electrically Transmitted Man  aka: Densô ningen   Left for dead soldier 'The Telegian' has a life matter-transmitting device at his disposal.  It's a teleporting machine which can locate those he seeks to kill making for easy murder.   In his case, the bastards that left him for dead.  This killer has some very strange powers that prove to be quite effective as his victims fall one by one.  He can easily disappear from afar, perfect alibi.  If you could teleport into a room and dispatch an enemy and then transport yourself back home in an instant, would you do it?  In Japanese with English subtitles  BA

U606 Some Girls Do (69) aka: Algunas chicas lo hacen   Beautiful female robots with electronic brains infiltrate and sabotage the first supersonic airliner by means of the low frequency sound waves which can be directed as needed at individuals or inanimate objects.  Hugh Drummond (Richard Johnson) is on the case.  Gloriously gorgeous girls include Daliah Lavi, Beba Loncar, Adrienne Posta, Yutte Stensgaard, Sydne Rome, Joanna Lumley, Virginia North and more.  A better stable of beauties you will not find in another British spy film.  Incredibly sharp Upgrade!  BA

U779 Warrior Women (81) aka: Island Warriors  aka: Yang yang jun  Male pirates have invaded the shores of a presumably lesbian, all female island.  Men are not allowed on the island, unless they wear chastity belts to prevent their manhood from emerging.  If they take it off, castration is the penalty, or, food for sharks.  Male warriors close by, want to reunite with the women.  The Amazon women live inside the giant statue of (you guessed it) a giant woman.  This structure also shoots cannons out the eyes.  When one of the pirates is castrated, he becomes a flaming gay stereotype.  The females dump their 'male' babies into the ocean to die....  BA

U647 Devil's Daffodil (61) aka: Das Geheimnis der gelben Narzissen   Heroin is being smuggled from Hong Kong via the stems of daffodil's.  A knife wielding killer adds plenty of thrills to the picture, leaving daffodils over the corpses of his victims.  Christopher Lee in another oriental role, moody black and white photography and also the great Klaus Kinski.  Well-staged murder sequences include a wheelchair-bound woman taking a ride down the stairs.  There's also a titillating nightclub act.  Now with English subtitles!  BA

U723 Alexandria's Sisters (69) aka: The Swingin' Pussycats  aka: Guess Who's Sleeping with Us Tonight?   Family tradition at the Philander Manor is the pursuit of sexual pleasures, enhanced by the aphrodisiac in the water they have all become nymphomaniacs.  Alexandria, the youngest sister, who has not been exposed to her sisters or the “water” is a virgin and has been away at boarding school...  Returning home, her virginity might be short lived...  New longer version!!!  BA  

U727 Beast of Pleasure (75) aka: La bête à plaisir  Barbara (Ellen Earl) takes the frustrated Gilbert under her wing, and fuels his denied sexual appetites.  Of course, Barbara has a female friend, and another male friend, setting things up for a soft-core foursome.  Barbara is a beast of pleasure.  This is a French porno film, dubbed into English, the hardcore scenes cut down to soft-core, and released in Australia. 

U726 Computer Beach Party (87) A public beach is going to be developed for properties by a greedy mayor.  Not so fast.  The kids are on it, like the familiar plot we have seen before, but quite possibly never at this level of ineptitude.  The filmmakers are clueless to the subject matter.  But we do get beach parties and computers.  We also get some naked boob shots and a band called 'Panther' who perform their hair metal live.  All of these factors combined make this one quite entertaining.  Spot the mistakes, and take a shot!  This movie will drain your mind.  Is the whole thing looped?  Brainless ass-obsessed fun.  BA

U640 Exotic Dreams of Casanova, The (71) aka: The Young Swingers   Joe Casanova (Johnny Rocco) is a spaghetti western star, engaged in a Valentine orgy for 'Swinger's International'.  He offers a thousand dollars to any swinger that can keep up at his private party until dawn.  Spanking, go-go dancing, whipped cream and rampant nudity, all to the tune of bonkers bongo and guitar.  Excited, Casanova gets knocked out cold, where he finds himself on trial in a dream, peppered with fantasy sex scenes, which include Uschi Digard (isn't she in everyone's dream?).  Debbie Osborne and more star in this costume-filled sex spectacle.  BA

U594 Gentlemen Prefer Nature Girls (63) Tom is fired  for being a nudist.  Together, with a nudist friend, they conspire to get the boss to the camp, to close a deal, and maybe enlighten him a little in the process, saving Tom's job.  An innocent little romp, filmed at Homestead, Florida's Sunny Palms Lodge, one of the state's many nudist colonies of the time.  Plenty of naked boobs and butts.  Naked men and women having serious conversations is hilarious.  Sharp Color - The camera is careful to avoid frontal (below the waist).  Seriously Funny!  BA

U733 It's Called "Murder" Baby (82) Soft version of 'Dixie Ray: Hollywood Star'.  Set in the 1940's, John Leslie stars as Nick Popodopolis, a sort of a Marlowe type character, He gets involved in a murder plot whodunit.  Dixie Ray (Lisa De Leeuw) is one dynamite femme fatale.   Actually, take out the sex and you get a legitimate movie populated by porn stars!  A who's who of beauties.  Cameron Mitchell turns up as the Lieutenant.  He told an interviewer years later he thought this was an R-Rated film and did not know the hardcore scenes were coming after his scenes were shot.   This is not the XXX version.

Don't take too many drugs and listen to Slayer...  I guess.

U597 Face to Face: Sir Anthony Hopkins (95) + Face to Face: Simone Signoret (60) Excellent interviews with two very well known stars.  Interviewer John Freeman wants to know 'Who is the woman behind the actor's mask?'.  'I think that's my own business.' Signoret replies.  Elsewhere in the interview, chain-smoker Signoret is fiddling with a box of matches, and drops them.  A crew member puts them back on the table and we see her look to her right and say 'Thank-You'.  Hopkins is right off his big role of Hannibal Lector in 'Silence of the Lambs'. 

U719 Glitterball, The (77) The idea for 'E.T.' .  Two boys discover a small, very frightened alien, trying to make it's way back to the mother ship.  They become pals.  Crooks and the authorities are trying to track it down.  The alien is hilarious.  A mini-ball with a mind.  Watch it eat!  The special effects are a blast.  This runs under an hour and is highly entertaining. 

U697 Ha'penny Breeze (50) A couple of characters show up in their old home village in Suffolk at the end of WWII to discover it crumbling and forgotten.  They set up a yacht race to raise funds to breath new life into the community.  The writer and main star is Australian actor Don Sharp who would later direct 'The Kiss of the Vampire' and 'The Face of Fu Manchu'.  Somewhere is an uncredited Michael Gough. 

U690 He Who Rides a Tiger (65) Just out of prison, the notorious cat burglar Peter (Tom Bell) is driving through the woods, casing a grand property for future plunder, when he is flagged down by a young woman named Joanne (Judy Dench).  Joanne has a child out of wedlock.  Peter starts to get involved with Joanne, as he plots his heist.  Peter's not so bad, he's got problems but who doesn't? But how will this end?   BA

U596 House in Marsh Road, The (60) aka: Invisible Creature  Jean (Patricia Dainton) inherits a house in the country and hopes it will tame her husband's (Tony Wright) drinking problem.  Instead it only ramps up his plans with his mistress (Sandra Dorne) to kill his wife somehow and seize her fortune.  Luckily for Jean, the house also comes with a poltergeist,(named 'Patrick') who favors Jean.  Some decent chills.   (This is the version with 'The House in Marsh Road' title.)   BA

U664 Silent Playground, The (63) Mentally ill Simon knows how good his medications make him feel, so he begins to share his barbiturates with the local children of the area.  He thinks they are sweets.  First of all, Simon hangs around the playground.  That should have been the first red flag.  Set around Christmas time with snowy parks and streets.  The cop on the case is Bernard Archer, who is the cop in many Edgar Wallace mysteries.  Desmond Llewelyn has a larger role than he usually has, a doctor in charge.

U701 Snowball (60) A kid uses the excuse for coming home late for school that the bus driver kicked him off the bus.  It's a damn lie.  But the locals get involved the usual busybody chitter chatter.  The driver denies it ever happened, says he has no memory of the incident.  This makes since because it never happened.  Things get worse for the driver as the lie begins to snowball.  Gordon Jackson and more star.

U612 Stowaway Girl (57) aka: Manuela   Beautiful female stowaway Manuela (the gorgeous Elsa Martinelli) warms the heart of a rugged hot-tempered, hard-drinking steamboat captain named James (Trevor Howard).  But women on ships are bad luck, and things start to go wrong.  Donald Pleasence delivers an acceptable Welsh accent as James sanctimonious, bible-quoting first officer.  Downbeat  with cool special effects and a somewhat ambiguous outcome.  You will hear the uncredited voice of Christopher Lee.  This film was released with two different endings for two different countries.  This is one of them.  Also with Jack (The Exorcist) MacGowran.   BA

U673 They Met at Midnight (46) aka: Piccadilly Incident   Set during WWII.  Diana (Anna Neagle) marries Capt.  Alan Pearson (Michael Wilding) before leaving for Singapore on a ship, which sinks.  She survives on an island for three years.  Now the wartime widower remarries and has a son, only to learn his first wife is alive.  Torn between two legitimate wives, now what? Diana has remained faithful all of this time......  Also with Coral Browne and supposedly if you watch closely, Roger Moore is supposed to be a guest seated at Pearson's table.  BA

U666 Tony Hancock: Very Nearly a Armful (23) A documentary on the legendary funny man Tony Hancock.  Plagued by alcohol, drugs and marital problems he suffered stage fright for the duration of his career.  His stand up could be crude and vulgar, always funny.  He also featured prominently  in British movies and television shows.  In 1968 Tony Hancock left a note that read 'Things seemed to go wrong too many times' and took his own life by overdose in Australia.  He was 44. 

U623 Truth About Women, The (57) Finally, in 1957 we get the real scoop.  Sir Humphrey Tavistock (Laurence (Welcome to Arrow Beach) Harvey) recalls his past relationships with several women, attempting to school another guy with his worldly knowledge.  Admittedly, we don't get any more insight into the mysteries of women, but we do get one hell of a cast!  Julie Harris, Diane Cilento, Mai Zetterling, Eva Gabor, Jocelyn Lane, Lisa Gastoni for starters.  Some of the males here include Christopher Lee, Ernest Thesiger and Thorley Walters.  Color  BA

U686 Walk in the Shadow (62) aka: Life of Ruth  When a child is in an accident and needs a blood transfusion, her father John Harris (Michael Craig) prevents this because of religious reasons (he's a Jehovah Witness), and the child dies.  After an inquest John Harris is cleared.  The doctor (Patrick McGoohan) however tries to persuade the police to charge him with manslaughter.  Well made debate about religious ethics, taking no sides.  A touchy subject.  Also starring Janet Munro.  BA

U700 Zoo Robbery, The (73) When the last surviving Yeti is kidnapped from the Zoo of London, a group of children team up to rescue this abominable snowman.  The Yeti may just be the goofiest thing I have ever seen posing as one.  A five year old kid could have come up with a better design.  The suit is so bad it makes Pufnstuf look real by comparison.  Still, there are 'Bigfoot' hunters that would be impressed.

This is a land of death.  At an orphanage, the nun Katherine Cross (Susan Saint James) tries to take care of the children, but is in need of supplies.  After the death of a friend, Brian changes, and puts his life on the line to help them.  This is a gut punch of a movie, like other Viet Nam films.  Said to be an accurate and controversial depiction of the rear support environment of wartime in Viet Nam.  Robert Englund is 'Tripper'.  A repressed film.  BA

U676 Enigma (82) C.I.A. agent Alex Holbeck (Martin Sheen) is deep into infiltrating Russian intelligence so he can steal the scrambler  'Enigma' the machine the Soviets are using for scrambling their communication so no other countries can tell exactly what evil doings they are up to.  Meanwhile a Soviet agent (Sam Neill) falls in love with the protagonist (Brigitte Fossey), who is acting as a double agent.  Shot entirely in France, the film still manages to deliver a chilling impression of East Berlin.  A bleak and suspenseful Cold War thriller mixed with a love story.  Also starring Derek Jacobi and Michael Lonsdale.  BA

Quality not as sharp as usual on this rare made for television dramatic thriller. 

U620 Believe You Can...  and You Can!  (83) This old special reveals what Fantasyland in Disneyland was to look like, way back in 1983.  In this show, Heather O'Rourke of 'Poltergeist' plays herself.  She is abandoned by her older brother in the park, Heather is captured by Disney characters, and put on trial on whether she is a believer in Disney magic, or not.  Snow White comes to her rescue.  Some songs and overall goofy fun, with a behind the scenes look of Disney attractions when they were cool.  Heather enters the Haunted Mansion, and is never seen again.  No, that doesn't happen.  But in real life, it kind of did.  Sort of.  Under an hour.

T584 Capture of Bigfoot, The (79) Instead of Bigfoot hunters, we get an actual killer Bigfoot movie from the director of 'The Giant Spider Invasion'.  Two trappers capture a young Bigfoot.  The mother shows up and attacks!  Later several men track down the young creature, and kill it.  Now the mother is very pissed off!  Indian mysticism is worked into the plot as the Bigfoot is supposed to be the protector an old Indian burial ground.  A great time, and the dummy scene is one of the best!   BA

U601 Ordeal of Patty Hearst, The (79) aka: Kidnappet af terrorister   Seen through the eyes of the F.B.I.   The ordeal of one rich spoiled heiress named Patty Hearst (played by Lisa Eilbacher) is on full display in this made for television epic that runs almost two and a half hours.  Let's face it, you have to be filthy rich to receive a 'get out of jail free card' after such behavior.  Agent Charles Bates (Dennis Weaver) is in charge, and Patty gets a little sympathy here before the real Patty Hearst published her account.  A genuine 1970's feel throughout in the 'Helter Skelter' tradition.  Some familiar faces include: Gary Graham, Rosanna Arquette, Rockne Tarkington, John Alderman, Robert Englund and Tisa Farrow.  BA 

U616 Prime Suspect (82) Frank (Mike Farrell) buys cookies from a young girl scout.  The girl is abducted and murdered and Frank becomes the prime suspect as the media and the cops ruin his life.  The police believe they have their man.  This movie reveals the effect on a person accused of committing a terrible crime, and how the media, his workplace and neighbors react to it.  Veronica Cartwright is Janice, Frank's wife.  Teri Garr is Amy, the reporter, who helps frame Frank, then feels remorse and tries to help him.  So...  is Frank the killer or not?   BA

U649 Prototype (83) Michael (David Morse) is an android of intelligence.  He was built behind the scenes by Pentagon money, and is now out in public for a trial run in the real world.  His main creator (Christopher Plummer) will take him into hiding when they learn the military is sniffing about, wanting the android to be used as a weapon of war.  What the hell did they think was going to happen? A contemporary Frankenstein with smart dialogue.  Thought-provoking and tragic.  Christopher Plummer  BA

U752 Satan's School for Girls (00) 27 years after the original, here comes the remake.  The plot is the same, a woman (Shannon Doherty) enrolling in an all-girls New England college to investigate her sister's alleged suicide finds she has stumbled onto a satanic cult of witches.  The head mistress of the school is Kate Jackson, giving her the distinctive honor of being the only person alive to be in not one but two films with this title.  So, can they match the mystery and horror of the short made for television version from 1973?  Also with knockout Julie Benz, who is seducing a man when all of a sudden she turns into a dog and attacks!  Wait.  What? 666 features prominently, carved into the chest of one victim.  The ending is chaos.  Jackson will not be returning in another installment (nor will Doherty). 

U610 Semi-Precious (95) aka: Whose Daughter is She   Andrea (Gaby Hoffman) is only thirteen years old, and has two mothers fighting over her.  Cathy (Stephanie Zimbalist) the biological mother, had to give up Andrea when at age four Andrea spilled some orange juice, the last straw for Cathy, who lost her mid over the incident.  Now, Laura (Joanna Kerns) has raised Andrea for about ten years, and Cathy has returned, wanting Andrea back.  Who wins in this emotional tug-of-war?  How many tears will you cry watching this?

U684 Violated (53) In Greenwich village, a mad killer with a hair fetish is on the loose, stalking and scalping his victims.  Filmed in New York City and intended for the niche market of backstreet grindhouses.  The killer is a mad photographer, stalking for his victim's hair, developing this fetish when as a child he was witness to his mother stroking her long blond hair while in bed with a man.  Bellevue, a psychiatric ward....  what makes him tick?  Early film of this nature.  BA 

U615 When She Was Bad....  (79) Disturbed and unstable, Teeny (Cheryl Ladd), takes out her frustrations on her daughter Robbie (Nicole Eggart).  She beats little Robbie, landing the kid in protective custody.  Somehow, Teeny convinces her husband Bob (Robert Urich) that this is his fault.  He gets drunk with his buddy Jack (Dabney Coleman) when Teeny splits to 'find herself' (or something).  Eileen Brennan (as Mary) is keeping an eye on Teeny, to make sure she doesn't end little Robbie for good.  What is the next step for drama queen Teeny?  BA

U633 Apache Fury (64) aka: Fury of the Apaches  aka: El hombre de la diligencia   Maybe a distant cousin of the 'Stagecoach' plot.   A wagon train station is used by a wagon that is carrying a large amount of money and has come under Indian attack.  The Indians have them surrounded, and someone inside, for good reason.  Inside two men have an old score to settle.  Frank Latimore, Frank Brana, Nuria Torray and more star.  BA

U631 Assault on Fort Texan (64) aka: Charge of the Seventh Cavalry  aka: Gli eroi di Fort Worth    Confederate soldiers team up with Apache warriors to lay siege on a Union Fort.  Much action and some eye candy supplied by the beautiful gals Ida Galli (who frequently used her American sounding name, Evelyn Stewart) and Monica Randall.  Edmund Purdom (much later of gore classic 'Pieces') stars.  Early pasta western directed by   Alberto De Martino.  His last directed film was 'Miami Golem' with David Warbeck.   How's that for obscure trivia.  BA

U632 Black Tigress (67) aka: Lola Colt aka: Mean and Black   Lola Gate (Lola Falana) arrives in the town of Saint Anna with other gals, to sing and dance at the local saloon.  El Diablo has plans to steal all of the land and sell it to the railroad men.  This is not what Lola signed on for.  She joins the locals for rebellion and uprising, led by Rod (Peter Martell) her soon to be lover.  Yes, Lola Falana performs song and dance in the film, some with a diverse brass section in the background, that doesn't exist.  This may be a shark jump for the spaghetti, but damn it all I still got a kick out it.   Upgrade  Nice Print

U635 California (77) aka: California addio   A late spaghetti, loaded with a cast of hangers on that did not want this beloved genre to end, but it did, replaced by I don't know what, because there is nothing like it, nor will there ever be.  Read more about 'California' in catalog.  Malisa Longo, Robert Hundar, Giuliano Gemma, William Berger, Raimund Harmstorf and many more star.   Upgrade and Widescreen already in the catalog but this print is better and contains no foreign subtitles, just an English dub.  BA

U636 Last Ride to Santa Cruz (64) aka: Der letzte Ritt nach Santa Cruz  aka: La lunga strada della vendetta   Pedro (Mario Adorf) is out of prison and starts a new gang with Jose (Klaus Kinski).  Sheriff Kelly (Edmund Purdom) is in pursuit, then they kidnap his wife (Marianne Koch).  Bad move in this deadly game of violence.  Kelly will hunt them down and kill them, one by one.   German language with English subtitles full frame

U628 Piluk, the Timid One (68) aka: Gun Shy Piluk  aka: Giurò... e li uccise ad uno ad uno... Piluk il timido   Mr. Piluk is an undertaker that gets himself in a fit of rage-filled revenge after his son the local sheriff is murdered by the resident thugs of the area.  Old Piluk will dole out his vengeance, killing the bad guys one by one with a bullet right between the eyes.  Trick weapons and a town dominated by sadistic and cruel frontier aristocrats.  Edmund Purdom, Peter Holden and cute redhead Micaela Pignatelli as Margaret.   BA

U629 Shoot to Kill (65) aka: Los Cuatreros  aka: Texas Jim  aka: Se sparo... ti uccido    The small town of Las Cruces is being terrorized by a group of bad rustlers.  Mysterious stranger Jim James (Edmund Purdom) arrives from the east and saves a rich rancher from being kidnapped.  Jim James is hired, and he sets his sights on the hot rancher's daughter Mary (Maria Silva).  But her boyfriend is jealous and things go wrong.  Very wrong.  After much action and intrigue, Jim James carries out personal revenge in the valley of vultures.  Also starring Frank Latimore and Fernando Sancho.  Most of this picture is in English language, but some Spanish language parts have no subtitles.  BA

U685 True Grit: A Further Adventure (78) Mattie Ross returns, this time played by Lisa Pelikan.  Warren Oates is Rooster Coogburn.  Damn if Mattie ain't still atryin' to reform the drunken old cussard, Rooster.  Made for TV movie that was supposed to be the pilot for a show.
